ECI provided venture capital to Bloomsbury Publishing in 1990, supporting its growth ahead of a £5.5million flotation in 1994. Bloomsbury used the net proceeds to fund the set up of paperback and children’s lists, and has gone on to become a British worldwide publishing house of fiction and non-fiction, famed for its decision to take a punt on an unknown author, J K Rowling, back in 1995.
