Clarke Energy, based in Knowsley near Liverpool, employs 700 people worldwide, with a turnover of circa £201m to year-end 31 October 2011. It is the world’s largest independent provider of efficient, clean energy solutions using GE’s class-leading Jenbacher gas engines.
These GE engines are versatile, and can run on a wide range of gas sources, including: natural gas, waste gases from mining, and gas from renewable sources such as sewage and landfill.
Clarke Energy has provided engines for some of Britain’s most high-profile installations, including Guys & St Thomas’ Hospital, The Shard and King’s Cross Development.
With a large installed base in the UK and France, management have diversified into other countries, including China, India, Australia, Nigeria, Tunisia, Algeria and New Zealand.
Clarke Energy provides efficient energy solutions in a mix of developed and high growth economies and are seizing opportunities in specific markets, including coal gas and industrial power generation.
ECI’s investment will position Clarke Energy to fully capitalise on growth drivers in these markets, including:
- The search for cheaper energy
- The need to reduce carbon emissions
- The need for reliable power supplies
